Questions about this service
How long do I have to appeal?
An odvolanie against a foreign police decision must be filed within a short deadline — as a general rule 15 days from the day the decision is served. Calendar days count, and the date of service matters more than the date printed on the form. That is why the first thing we do is fix the date and count the deadline.
Can I stay in Slovakia while the appeal is pending?
It depends on the status you held when you applied and on what the decision says. In some cases filing an odvolanie lets you wait for the outcome in the country; in others it does not. We check this on day one, before any other step.
Which is better — appeal or re-apply?
If the police made an error of assessment or overlooked a document you had, an appeal. If the problem is in your file (a missing certificate, funds, accommodation), it is often faster to fix it and re-apply, sometimes on different grounds. We decide after reviewing the decision, not by rule of thumb.

The refusal was because of my employer. What now?
A common story: the employer did not file the nahláška, has debts, or the vacancy was registered incorrectly. We check whether it can be fixed with the same employer or whether you should look for another; sometimes it is wiser to change the grounds — for example, to business.
Can I re-apply straight after a refusal?
A new application after a refusal is possible, but filing the same file makes no sense: the reason remains and the police will see the previous refusal. We close it first — with documents, explanations or a change of grounds — and only then file.
I have already missed the odvolanie deadline. Is that it?
A regular appeal is no longer available, but there are still routes: a re-application with a corrected file or different grounds. We review the situation and propose a realistic plan.
